PWI Names Top Female Wrestler For 2015

Long running independent wrestling magazine Pro Wrestling Illustrated has announced the #1 entry on their annual list of the top 50 female professional wrestlers in the world for the past year. PWI revealed the winner today in order to promote the upcoming release of the full list, which has garnered significantly more attention in recent years, due to the marked improvement in North American women’s wrestling.

A wrestler’s position on the PWI list generally combines actual wrestling ability and performance in matches with scripted results and general influence on the product. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that WWE’s Nikki Bella has topped the list, after spending the majority of 2015 as the WWE Divas Champion, while starring in E! Network’s Total Divas reality show, and improving significantly as a wrestler in the process. Fellow WWE Divas Paige and Sasha Banks were second and third, respectively, while TNA Knockouts Santana Garrett and Gail Kim rounded out the top five.

The full list will be available soon in Pro Wrestling Illustrated, which you can subscribe to here
