Olympic Games Take A Chunk Out Of Raw’s Ratings

It probably shouldn’t be a surprise, but it turns out that everyone is watching the Summer Olympics in Brazil, and that was bad news for everything else on TV, including Monday Night Raw. The show, which was a fairly weak one headlined by an excellent match between Cesaro and Rusev for the United States Title (that ended in a distraction finish), averaged a mere 2.91 million viewers and a 0.98 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which are both huge drops from recent weeks, and the lowest since the July 4th holiday Raw. The good news is that Raw still finished second among cable original programming for the evening, suggesting that everything else likely saw similar drops in viewership.

Hourly Breakdown

Hour 1 (8-9 PM): 2.95 million viewers, 0.97 demo rating
Hour 2 (9-10 PM): 2.97 million viewers, 0.99 demo rating
Hour 3 (10-11 PM + overrun): 2.81 million viewers, 0.97 demo rating
