Although current plans for returning Superstar Mickie James are just a one-off match against NXT Women’s Champion Asuka at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, the former Women’s Champion said in an interview on the TJR Wrestling podcast this week that she would be more than happy to extend that return into more of a permanent arrangement.
“Absolutely I would be completely open to being on WWE’s main roster again. I also recognize that people talk about WWE’s young talent and they’re all hungry and I totally agree with that because there’s a lot of amazing talent that’s both signed and unsigned. I feel like there’s something unique, special and different that I can bring to the roster.”
As one of several legitimate female wrestlers who struggled to make an impact under a system more interested in looks than anything else during her initial WWE run, it certainly would be interesting to see Mickie James face off against the talent currently on Raw, Smackdown, and NXT right now. Plus, with the main roster’s Women’s division split over two brands, there are more than a few spots available for her to slide into.
“It would be awesome to work with [Charlotte]. I feel like I would have a different kind of match with her than she’s ever had. I could hopefully push her and I think we could elevate each other to a different level.”
What could be an audition for more future appearances by Mickie James will take place this weekend in Toronto, in what should be a huge match against Asuka!
