Mic’d Up Julian Edelman Wasn’t Sure if The Patriots Won The Super Bowl

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman pulled off one of the most miraculous and memorable plays in Super Bowl history, when he made a desperation lunge for a tipped Tom Brady pass, and somehow — somehow! — managed to secure the football as it bounced off a defender’s leg and just millimeters before it touched the ground.

Even better, is that Edelman was mic’d up for the game and got to argue with Atlanta Falcons defensive back Brian Poole while officials were reviewing the play. Edelman knew it was a good catch all along.

The now-infamous catch wasn’t the only great mic’d up moment from Edelman though. When James White ran the ball in for the game winning touchdown in overtime, there was some immediate confusion about whether his knee had touched the ground before the ball reached the goal line. Although the confetti guns went off and the media stormed the field, Edelman didn’t celebrate, telling everyone “it’s not over!” and trying to usher the cameras back to the sidelines.

Eventually Bill Belichick came over and told him that the touchdown call would stand. Edelman was finally free to celebrate along with everyone else.
