Judge Refuses Request To Drop Charges Against Jimmy Snuka

The same judge who ruled that former WWE Superstar Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka is mentally incapable of standing in his own defense in his murder trial has also refused a motion by the District Attorney’s office to drop all charges against him, as well as motions to have him confined to a mental institution, or receive outpatient treatment. During Snuka’s initial competency hearing, there was conflicting testimony from experts, with one psychiatrist notably testifying that he believed Snuka was simply acting to avoid prosecution.

While the Deputy District Attorney who prosecuted the case against Snuka still believes that he played a role in the death of his then-girlfriend in 1983, the feeling is that Snuka, who is scheduled to return to court in December for another hearing, will never be found mentally competent, and thus there is no point in pursuing the case. However, clearly the judge disagreed with that assertion.
