Johnny Manziel Deletes Twitter Account After Offering Donald Trump Some Advice

Johnny Manziel, former NFL quarterback and current… well, we’re not exactly sure what he’s up to these days. Anyway, he had a prolific Twitter account with millions of followers. At least, he did, until he went and deleted the whole damn thing, apparently unable to cope with the tidal waves of mentions, DMs, and retweets that stemmed from him trying to offer up some social media advice to the new President of the United States.

On Monday afternoon, Manziel advised Trump to stay away from the notifications section on Twitter. Sage advice, really, since it’s usually filled with trolls. Trump has, at times, seemed more concerned with protecting his image against anonymous internet jerks than, ya know, actually running the country.

Here are the now-deleted tweets:

Not long after those two tweets, Manziel’s entire account disappeared. Perhaps his own Twitter notifications became too overwhelming with the responses, both positive and negative, to his presidential advice. Manziel still exists on other social media, though, most notably his Instagram page. Perhaps this is merely a Twitter break for the former first round pick.
