Reportedly, while waiting for clearance to resume wrestling from doctors (a clearance which seems less likely as time goes on), it appears that Daniel Bryan may have found a new interest to keep himself in fighting form. According to former UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson, Bryan has been spending his time training in jiu-jitsu at Henderson’s gym in Arizona. Henderson stated that Bryan has been working really hard at this new discipline, and has moved up the ranks quickly during training. While there’s no indication that Bryan has considered MMA fighting if he can’t get cleared for a WWE return, he has said that he’s determined to make a return no matter what doctors say, whether it’s for WWE or otherwise.
If Bryan can’t find his way back to the wrestling ring, could we be seeing him make his MMA debut in the future, following in the footsteps of former WWE Superstars like Brock Lesnar, Batista, Bobby Lashley, and most recently, CM Punk? At his age, it would certainly be a challenge for him, but we already know he doesn’t like to back down from those.
