As expected, Chris Jericho is taking some time off from the WWE. Officially, it’s because Kevin Owens powerbombed him into the apron and he’s injured. Unofficially, of course, his time off is because he is busy touring with his rock band Fozzy.

Fozzy’s tour dates were announced way back before WrestleMania, so it’s no surprise to “smart” fans that Jericho has been missing-in-action since Owens attacked him. Additionally, Jericho has made a habit in the last few years of taking lengthy breaks between stints of in-ring action. That often leads to fun surprise returns, and fans are already busy trying to predict when Y2J might next re-appear.

However, according to Jericho in a recent interview with The Washington Post, that return may never happen.

“It’ll be a long time before I go back,” Jericho said. “If I ever do go back, if I never go back, it’s fine. If I never wrestle another match, it wouldn’t bother me.”

It should be noted that Jericho is still being advertised for a couple of live events in Asia near the end of June, but other than fulfilling those commitments, it’s possible that he will never make another full-time return. After all, he’s been in the business for over two decades and is already 46-years-old.

On the other hand, these comments just mean his inevitable return in the 2018 Royal Rumble will just cause us all to mark out even more.
