During Brock Lesnar’s appearance on ESPN Sportscenter on Tuesday, the issue of concussions as they related to Daniel Bryan’s sudden retirement was brought up. Lesnar responded by praising Bryan for knowing when to walk away for his own good, and also dropped this bombshell:
“Over the years, I can’t even count on both my hands the amount of concussions I’ve probably had and didn’t even know just because of the business that I’ve been in.”
Not exactly the kind of statement WWE (or UFC, or the NFL, all of which Lesnar competed in at some point) probably wants to see making the news, is it? While it’s unsurprising that Lesnar has suffered a fair few concussions over his career, it’s interesting that he decided to speak about them openly on ESPN. Will we see more pro wrestlers, and more athletes in general, opening up about their own experiences with concussions?
