Booker T: CM Punk Will Probably Return To Wrestling If He Loses At UFC 225

Could a former WWE World champ be on his way back into wrestling?

CM Punk’s controversial departure from the wrestling world has been well-documented. He then surprised everyone by signing a contract with the UFC and surprised no one by getting himself soundly beaten in his MMA debut. Despite the lopsided loss to Mickey Gall back in 2016, Punk is getting (at least) one more chance to earn himself a UFC win. He will take on Mike Jackson (also 0-1 in his career) in his hometown of Chicago on June 9 at UFC 225.

If he loses that fight, his UFC adventure is surely over. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T thinks that another UFC loss will result in a pro wrestling return — although maybe not with the WWE itself:

“I think he’ll be at All In. I think if he loses this fight, he’ll be at All In, with the Young Bucks [and] Cody Rhodes, making his way back to the pro wrestling world. I really think CM Punk [misses] the wrestling world. I just think he had a bad taste in his mouth, but he can get it back.” [Via the Heated Conversation Podcast]

Punk and the WWE are currently involved in an ongoing lawsuit over alleged mistreatment and misdiagnosis by WWE’s medical staff, resulting in Punk working while apparently having post-concussion symptoms.

All In is an upcoming independent show being run by Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks. It will take place at the Sears Center in Chicago on September 1, and has already sold 10,000 tickets. It’s the largest non-WWE wrestling show to take place in North America since the demise of WCW in 2001.
