Austin Aries To Undergo Eye Surgery, Out Until 2017

Last week we reported on Austin Aries suffered a nasty gash under his eye during an NXT live event match against Shinsuke Nakamura, and even showed the (nasty) picture he posted on social media to show off the injury. Well, it turns out that things were worse than originally thought, as in addition to the cut and the incredible amount of swelling, Aries suffered an orbital bone fracture that will require surgery, and put the Greatest Man That Ever Lived on the shelf until at least early 2017.

Aries, along with a debuting Roderick Strong, was part of the Dusty Rhodes Memorial Tag Team Classic and had already advanced past the first round on TV. His second round match has already been filmed, but we won’t spoil what happened, other than to say that it was forced to take his injury into account.
