Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (in partnership with Global Force Wrestling) put on their huge TripleMania XXV event in Mexico City on Saturday night. The main event featured Psycho Clown vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. in a mask-versus-mask match, but the wrestling world is buzzing over what happened in the four-way match for the Woman’s Championship.
The match featured Sexy Star (from Lucha Underground) defending the title against Rosemary from Global Force Wrestling, Ayako Hamada, and Lady Shani. During the finish of the match, Sexy Star locked in a legit armbar and reportedly attempted to seriously injure Rosemary.
The facts are a bit blurry, but here are the most reliable reports so far. PWInsider reports that Sexy Star and Lady Shani had already started working extra stiff with each other (for unknown reasons), and Star may have taken her frustrations out on Rosemary. Dave Meltzer reported that GWF boss Jeff Jarrett was furious and that Vampiro (one of the key leaders in AAA) ordered Sexy Star to return to the locker room and apologize afterwards.
She apparently did apologize, but also denied she was intentionally trying to hurt Rosemary. That didn’t sit well with other professionals, including Rosemary, who put her on blast on social media. Rosemary posted a lengthy message on Twitter explaining the incident, removing all doubt that the finish wasn’t “part of the show.”
“Let me make this perfectly clear: if you take liberties with someone’s body when they are giving it to you and trusting you to keep them safe, you are not tough. You are an asshole. And you don’t belong in this business.
Sexy Star decided to do just that this weekend at TripleMania. And while I have remained quiet on social media until I was more calm to address the situation, I have now being informed that she is telling people that it is a work. You are all now being informed that Sexy Star is a liar. She was a liar in the locker room when she was forced to apologize and instead cooked up some bulls–t excuse that she ‘didn’t know’ and she is a liar now. You know if you are torquing on someone’s arm. You know an armbar is a real and dangerous hold.
The only reason your face is not broken right now is because a little voice inside my head as I lay on the apron kept repeating, ‘Don’t go to Mexican prison.’ (thanks Demon).
However, turning to positives, the outreach from the wrestling community has been incredible. I’m overwhelmed with how much love I feel right now from friends, fans, and people I have yet to meet in this amazing business. We are a family and we protect our own. If you violate that, you are not welcome here.
I also want to thank the AAA locker room. Multiple people came up to me saying how sorry and disgusted they were. Thank you Hamada and Shani, who also had to deal with bulls–t from Star during that match. Thank you, Vampiro, for professionally trying to calm a volatile situation, though, as you know, once the excuses started pouring out of Sexy Star’s mouth in lieu of an apology, it was over.
Thank you to the amazing GFW locker room, both present that night and not. I have so much support from everyone, and talent, crew and office have all reached out to show me that.”
Rosemary didn’t address how badly her arm is injured (we’ve seen headlines claiming it’s broken, but also headlines saying it’s just a minor injury). Sexy Star isn’t some over-aggressive rookie, either. She’s been in the wrestling business for more than 10 years now, so she really should know better. Judging by these tweets from other wrestlers, she might not be in the business much longer.
Sexy Star will never set foot in one of my locker rooms. I hope others follow suit.

Dear fellow wrestling promoters : do you value the safety of your talent? Then now is the time to cancel Sexy Starr bookings from your show.

DISGUSTING is just one word. We put our lives in each other's hands. So unprofessional. This is how you work yourself out of the business https://t.co/aELhRMO017

Sexy Star has already had at least one booking cancelled, as a planned appearance at Wrestlecade in November has been pulled according to the promotion’s Twitter account. Expect others to follow suit.
