Like Batman v Superman before it, Suicide Squad will be getting an extended cut when it is released on Blu-ray later this year.
While Suicide Squad is one of the biggest box office successes of the year and has its fair share of defenders, David Ayer’s film was heavily criticized for feeling like a film that was haphazardly put together in the editing room (which, as The Hollywood Reporter’s expose pointed out back in August, is exactly what happened), so it makes sense for Warner Bros. to release a longer cut that may help fill in some gaps in the theatrical version.
It’s unclear at this time whether this is Ayer’s director’s cut, as it isn’t being called that, or if it has an R-rating like the Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman did. The brief announcement trailer pretty much just reveals that there will be additional Harley Quinn and Joker scenes, so if you enjoyed those, you may want to give the Extended Cut a watch when it’s released on November 15th digitally and December 13th on Blu-ray.
