Here Are The First Children To Ever Enter Disneyland

Today is the 60th anniversary of Disneyland’s grand opening, so naturally our Disney nostalgia is through the roof. Millions and millions of people have walked through the gates of the world’s most magical theme park, but have you ever wondered what the experience must have been like for the park’s very first guests?

The video below shows the fascinating experience of Michael Schwartner and his cousin Christine Vess, the first two children who ever entered the park. They not only got to have their picture taken with a jovial Walt Disney, but received a personal tour and a truly generous gift — lifetime Disneyland passes.

The best part about the story is that the children weren’t even supposed to be there (the family was vacationing in Mexico, but young Michael convinced his parents to take a detour). Who would have thought the whims of a child would lead to the experience of a lifetime?
