Well, Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, and as he prepares to take over the presidential Twitter account, we can only imagine what entertaining, horrifying, and downright bizarre tweets the Commander in Chief will unleash on the world in the months and years ahead. After all, The Donald has made it clear that Twitter is his preferred mode of communication – press conferences be damned! And he has never shied away from a good Twitter war, whether with other celebrities such as Rosie O’Donnell and Alec Baldwin or the Girl Guides of America. We can only imagine what presidential scholars will make of these tweets in 100 years. Here are eight of President Trump’s most outrageous tweets to date (we all know there will be more).
8. Insulting Arianna Huffington After her Husband Came Out
Never one to show mercy or hesitate when it comes to rubbing salt in a wound, Trump let loose on Ariana Huffington in August 2012 after The Huffington Post website wrote an unflattering story that suggested Trump had inflated his wealth and was not actually a billionaire, as he claims every chance he gets. Trump went straight for the throat in response, posting about how Huffington’s husband had recently come out of the closet and left her for another man. This is Donald Trump at his classiest.
.@ariannahuff is unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man- he made a good decision.

7. Showing Sensitivity on the Anniversary of 9/11
The terrorist attacks that occurred in the U.S. on September 11, 2001 were one of the darkest days in the country’s history. And, as one would expect, the anniversary of those attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. are greeted each year as a somber affair — a time of mourning and reflection. That is for everyone except Donald Trump. On the 2013 anniversary of 9/11, for no particular reason, Trump took to Twitter to (what else?) attack his critics. This is likely about as sensitive as the Donald is capable of getting.
6. Random Thoughts
One of the truly great things about Donald Trump’s use of Twitter is that he seems to use the platform to say literally anything that comes into his head whenever it arrives. There is no filter for the former real estate mogul and reality TV star. If he has a thought or feeling, he fires it out into the Twitter-sphere with reckless abandon. Most of the time, these tweets are harsh attacks on his critics or shameless self-promotion. But other times, they are totally random thoughts that are going on in his mind. Take for example this gem of a tweet from October 2012.
I have never seen a thin person drinking Diet Coke.

5. Extending Warmth and Thoughtfulness Towards Women
Donald Trump’s deplorable comments and views about women were made abundantly clear during the election campaign thanks to the infamous Access Hollywood interview tape that surfaced. Not surprising that more than 250,000 women planned to march on Washington, D.C. during the inauguration weekend to protest Donald Trump’s presidency. But long before the election campaign, Trump used Twitter to express his warmth and thoughtfulness towards women. Case in point, this Tweet from May 2013 after a report surfaced that documented more than 25,000 cases of women in the military being sexually assaulted. As usual, Donald Trump is sensitive and subtle.
26,000 unreported sexual assults in the military-only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together? — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 7, 2013
4. Awesome Retweets
When a tweet says it better than you could hope to, it makes sense to retweet it, right? Who reading this hasn’t retweeted plenty of random things we find funny, insightful, or intelligent? Donald Trump is no different. He too likes to retweet when the occasion warrants. Take, for example, this dandy little tweet about his Democratic opponent for the presidency, Hillary Clinton, which he retweeted on the campaign trail last year. As always, pure class.
3. Attacking Barack Obama
Of Trump’s many targets on Twitter, none wore a bigger bullseye than now-former-President Barack Obama. During the eight years that President Obama was in office, Donald Trump used Twitter to regularly scorch him and spread lies about him – notably that Barack Obama was born in Kenya and was working for Islamic extremists. While not true, Donald Trump continued his relentless efforts to undermine Barack Obama and, on many occasions, even tried to get him to resign from office. This tweet below is a perfect example.
If Obama resigns from office NOW, thereby doing a great service to the country—I will give him free lifetime golf at any one of my courses!

2. Focusing on the Big Issues
Don’t let it be said that Donald Trump doesn’t focus his attention on the big picture and big issues. While many politicians concern themselves with foreign conflicts, global warming, and the economy, Trump also likes to use Twitter to weigh-in on the latest celebrity scandal or hot topic. Take for instance his obsessive tweeting when it was revealed that actress Kristen Stewart had cheated on her Twilight co-star and then-boyfriend Robert Pattinson. The Donald was all over this Tinseltown blow-up.
After Friday’s Twilight release, I hope Robert Pattinson will not be seen in public with Kristen–she will cheat on him again!

If there’s one thing that Donald Trump excels at, it is self-promotion. This is a man who never hesitates to take credit for just about anything, or to brag that he is the best. And given his love of Twitter and frequent use of social media to spew his every thought and criticism, it should come as no surprise that he would even brag to people on Twitter about how great he is at Twitter. We think this tweet from last fall’s election campaign just about sums up the man better than anything else.
Thanks- many are saying I’m the best 140 character writer in the world. It’s easy when it’s fun.
