San Diego Comic-Con is already under way, attracting thousands of writers, artists, celebrities, and fans from around the world to converge on the annual event for a four day extravaganza of comics, movies, TV, and pretty much everything under nerd culture’s ever-expanding umbrella. Most patrons will arrive by car, bus, plane, or other forms of conventional transit, but one man has decided to take a decidedly different route to Comic-Con this year.
In a short clip on his late-night talk show, Conan O’Brien and general sidekick Andy Richter took the guises of The Doof Warrior and Immortan Joe from Mad Max: Fury Road in a wonderful display of cosplay. With his house band in tow (here taking the place of the film’s tribal drummers) and Richter’s Joe driving the stage truck from the film, Doof Conan plays some menacing metal riffs and cooks some hot dogs with his fire-spewing guitar.
Whether they actually make it to the Convention Center is anyone’s guess, but taking the Fury Road to Comic-Con definitely seems like a great way to ensure entry into Valhalla, shiny and chrome.
