Bill Nye Settles The Debate Between ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Star Wars’ Once And For All

If you need a judge to declare a winner between the two biggest science-fiction franchises of all-time, who better than the man who is literally nicknamed “The Science Guy”?

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Bill Nye (The Science Guy) laid down his final verdict on which series should reign supreme in the minds of nerds around the world. Perhaps it’s not surprising that he declared Star Trek a better series than Star Wars, since the former was generally based of realistic science and technology while the latter is focused on The Force, a mysterious power that Nye compares to “magic” or “religion.”

“[Star Trek is] an optimistic view of the future with science. Anti-matter contained in magnetic fields, real physics… [in Star Wars] there’s an invisible thing that has superpowers, but in Star Trek they didn’t do that,” said Nye.

Fellow scientific celebrity Neil deGrasse Tyson recently echoed similar sentiments when asked to compare the Starship Enterprise to the Millennium Falcon, saying that the Enterprise is “fake-real” while Han Solo’s famous spacecraft is simply “fake-fake.”
