Survivor Planning Lawsuit Against Kim Davis For Using ‘Eye Of The Tiger’

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you likely know the story of Kim Davis — the Rowan County clerk who has refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, despite a Unites States Supreme Court ruling that says she must.

We’ll spare you the rest of the hateful, bigoted details.

A local judge held her in contempt last week, since she cannot be fired as an elected official. After spending close to a week in jail, Davis was released on Tuesday and the conservative religious nuts were quick to stand up and support her, including presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. Davis and Huckabee appeared at a rally together after her release, while the song “Eye Of The Tiger” by Survivor blared in the background. You will recognize it as the iconic theme from Rocky III. It has become synonymous with prevailing against all odds, in the face of adversity.

Turns out that members of the band don’t particularly agree that Davis is prevailing against the odds, in the face of adversity.

The band made a post on their official Facebook page:

NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use “My Tune -The Eye Of The Tiger.”

I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin! C’mom Mike, you are not The Donald but you can do better than that

Various reports are saying that the band and their record label are looking into legal possibilities, in to order “protect the integrity of their music.”
