DMX, real name Earl Simmons, has been arrested and sentenced to six months in jail for failing to pay $400,000 in child support.
The 44-year old rapper was arrested on June 26 before a show at Radio City Music Hall for a number of outstanding issues. In addition to the $400,000 child support bill, he is part of a robbery complaint in Newark, New Jersey and has a warrant for skipping bail in White Plains, New York.
DMX has a history of legal trouble dating back to 1999, most often for drugs and/or weapons related offenses. He has served multiple jail sentences already and tried (unsuccessfully) to declare bankruptcy in 2013 to avoid his child support obligations. He has twelve different kids with multiple women.
DMX was one of the most popular rappers of the 90s and early 00s. From 1996-2003 he had five different albums debut at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 charts. His latest album, Redemption of The Beast, remains unreleased pending a dispute between DMX and his (now former) label Seven Arts Music.
