Warner Bros. is moving full speed ahead on Wonder Woman 2, announcing that the sequel to this year’s breakout superhero hit will land on December 13th, 2019.
This is an unsurprising move, given the outstanding critical and commercial success Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman has been enjoying since its release in early June. The film currently hast the second-highest domestic box office gross of the year and sits less than $90,000,000 back of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s global take, which it should rival or even surpass by the time its theatrical run is finished.
Jenkins is currently working on a script with DC’s Geoff Johns that is said to place the action in the 1980s during the Cold War. Gal Gadot will of course return in the title role and her co-star Chris Pine is also rumored to be reprising his role as Steve Trevor.
Next on the docket for DC films is Justice League this November, followed by Aquaman in December 2018.
