What To Watch If You’re Stuck At Home

While the world comes to a close and people are stuck indoors, finding something new and exciting to watch (or binge) over the next few weeks should help pass the time.

Luckily for us, there are more streaming services than ever before, which at a time like this, is a real bonus. From the release of Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot to the debut of an all-new Altered Carbon spin-off series, this month has a little something for everyone. Here’s a collection of a few new movies and tv series to watch if you’re stuck at home. Enjoy!

Castlevania: Season 3

If you’re a fan of Netflix’s animated Castlevania series, you’ll be happy to know the third season of the dark fantasy arrives on the streaming service next month. The first two seasons followed monster hunter Trevor Belmont on his quest to defend the nation of Wallachia from Dracula and his minions. The upcoming will see Team Belmont go their separate ways following the defeat of Dracula, but as they say, he that is dead can never die.

Interestingly enough, according to Netflix analytics, Castlevania reportedly garnered nearly 30 million viewers worldwide following the release of season two, making it one of Netflix’s most successful original animated shows in history.

Black Panther

Seeing as Black Panther was released for Blu-ray and digital download almost two years ago, including the movie might seem odd, but we have a good reason. If you subscribe to Disney+, you’ve likely realized by now that the Oscar-winning film is one of the few yet to be added to the streaming service. Fortunately, Disney+ recently revealed Black Panther will be made available on March 6, 2020, which is excellent news for Marvel fans and those who have yet to see the record-breaking movie.

We loved the film and thought Ryan Coogler’s depiction of Wakanda was simply breathtaking. Black Panther introduced fans to a new corner of the MCU and was overfilling with new characters.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

Going to the movies more than once a month can be tight not he wallet, so the fact that Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was released during the same month as highly anticipated movies Joker (2019) and Zombieland: Double Tap (2019), it’s not all that surprising Smith’s sequel flopped at the box office.

As of publication, the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot has grossed $3.5 million against a $10 million budget, which is awful, but the reboot is a much better movie than its box office numbers might suggest. The sequel is chalk filled with nostalgia, raunchy humor, and much like the original features plenty of celebrity cameos.

Altered Carbon: Resleeved

The first season of Altered Carbon was a pleasant surprise, and with a second season set debut this week, the announcement of an anime spin-off series being released less month later caught us off guard. Based on Richard K. Morgan’s book of the same name, Altered Carbon: Resleeved will further explore the cyberpunk universe and introduce the audience to new stories.

Written by Dai Sato (Cowboy Bebop) and Tsukasa Kondo, Altered Carbon: Resleeved looks similar to that of Netflix’s Ghost in the Shell series, which was also created using 3DCG animation.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Season 7

If you haven’t already heard, the first two episodes of the seventh and final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars are now available on Disney+, and the next four episodes will be released weekly throughout March. The last season serves as a continuation of the series after it was unceremoniously canceled in 2013 and will act as George Lucas’s final contribution to the Star Wars universe. Chronologically, the seventh season takes place before and during the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.

Although the weekly release schedule is a little annoying, it does prevent binging, and with March Madness on all month long, it does give us something else to look forward to each week.
