I’ll be honest: when promo stills started coming out last year for Andy Muschietti’s film adaptation of Stephen King’s It, I had my doubts over whether or not it could live up to the early ’90s miniseries that gave a bunch of kids (myself included) nightmares. Specifically, I just didn’t think Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise looked all that scary, especially in comparison to Tim Curry’s iconic performance as the evil killer clown.

Yeah, so much for that.

This new trailer, which contains footage from the earlier preview plus a bunch of new stuff, is legitimately scary. We hear Pennywise’s voice for the first time and it’s deeply unsettling, but what really gets me is the “You’ll float too!” musical refrain, which builds to a crescendo by the time the trailer reaches its end point, which features a roomful of clowns (yeah, good luck sleeping tonight).

It opens on September 8th and I’m so excited for it to scare the crap out of me.
