Video game movies are typically not something to get excited about, as the majority of them simply fail at translating what made the games great in the first place to the big screen. Judging by this first trailer, next year’s Ratchet & Clank movie might just be the best video game movie ever created.
A loose adaptation of the first game in the series from 2002, Ratchet & Clank looks like it maintains the long-running PlayStation series’ unique tone of irreverent humor and lighthearted sci-fi action. In addition to retaining the franchise’s stable of voice talent for the main characters, the film will also feature the voices of John Goodman, Paul Giamatti, and Sylvester Stallone.
The film is set for a April 26, 2016 release date and for fans of the series who may be disappointed by the fact that they can’t actually play the movie, a companion game for the PS4 (thankfully being made by series creator Insomniac Games) will also be released around the same time. Trailers for both can be found below.
