Warner Bros. dropped a new Justice League trailer at its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con today and it’s massive. Clocking in at just over four minutes long, this new preview offers the most extensive look at Zack Snyder’s superhero ensemble yet and y’know what? It looks really cool!
Though it’s a bit overkill, there’s a lot to like in this trailer: Wonder Woman is still a total badass, Batman has some cool scenes with Alfred (so happy we’ll get to see more of Jeremy Irons in the role), Aquaman is still a hunk and I’m liking Ezra Miller’s Flash the more I see of him (even if that suit is still awful). I’m still not really sure what to make of Cyborg, but he seems alright I guess?
What I really like is how much Justice League is going to tie into everything else we’ve seen from the DC Universe movies so far. The Amazons are all here and we also get to see quite a bit of the film’s big bad Steppenwolf, who notes in a voice over that Earth is going to be easy to conquer because it has “No Lantern (a nice nod to Green Lantern), no Kryptonian.” The film seems to be committing hard into the idea that the world has no hope without Superman and that the rest of the League have to prove that they can live up to his example.
We also get a nice tease of Superman at the end. I’m actually glad WB is leaving Henry Cavill out of the trailers because even though it’s obvious that he’s going to make a dramatic appearance late in the film to help save the day, it’s nice not knowing how he’ll come back from the dead.
