It’s interesting watching the marketing machine for Star Wars: The Force Awakens churn into high gear as the film’s release date fast approaches. Disney probably doesn’t have to show anything new at this point to promote the film because it’s going to destroy box office numbers. Yet, there seems to be a TV spot with snippets of new footage every other day, making it feel like we’ve practically seen the whole movie.
Still, there’s no denying that the hype machine is working almost too well, as it’s pretty difficult to say no to watching this latest TV spot, which heavily features Kylo Ren and the First Order. The voice over between Ren and the as-yet-unseen Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), suggesting a relationship very reminiscent of the master/pupil dynamic between Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader in the first trilogy.
Enjoy the extended TV spot below, which is the 10th release so far. Anyone want to start taking bets on what the final number will be between now and the film’s December 18 release date?
