Netflix scored big with last year’s critically-acclaimed feature film Mudbound and while it’s still too early to tell if Apostle will be another win for the streaming giant, the trailer certainly has us excited.

Directed by Gareth Evans (The Raid), Apostle stars Legion’s Dan Stevens as a man who returns to his home around the turn of the century, only to find that his sister is being held for ransom by a violent religious cult. We can’t really do it justice with words, so have a look at the trailer for yourself:

Yeah, we’re on board with pretty much everything here. Pairing Stevens, who has proven to excel at a certain type of manic acting with his role on FX’s Legion, with known scenery-chewer Michael Sheen is a brilliant bit of casting and this whole thing promises to be a bloody, dread-inducing time.

We’ll know for sure whether Apostle delivers the goods once reviews come out following the film’s world premiere at Fantastic Fest later this week, but you won’t have to wait long to see it for yourself, as it hits Netflix on October 12th.
