Suicide Squad just can’t catch a break. DC’s latest live-action blockbuster isn’t even out in wide release yet and it’s already getting hammered by critics, which in turn is stirring irate fans to do ridiculous things like petition for Rotten Tomatoes to be taken down. Now, a new Suicide Squad controversy has cropped up and it could be the most significant one yet (not really, but it’s still interesting).
Mashable has pointed out that Harley Quinn’s (Margot Robbie) shorts look quite a bit different in last month’s Comic-Con trailer from the ones shown in the very same shot found in earlier international trailer. Here’s proof:
As you can see, Harley’s shorts have been altered significantly in the Comic-Con trailer, to the point where they’re more underwear than short-shorts. It appears that Warner Bros photoshopped the image to pander to male convention attendees (after all, those comic nerds go nuts for scantily-clad women, right?), a theory that Margot Robbie herself happens to subscribe to. When asked about the controversial change by Nova, Robbie responded, “I didn’t know about that … having been there on the day, they were very small. But wow, I wonder if they did? That would be extensive Photoshopping to do.”
We’re through the looking glass here people.
