Audiences will be introduced to one of the Marvel universe’s most powerful superheroes when Doctor Strange is released later this year and Tom Hiddleston is curious to see how Loki, the God of Mischief, measures up.
As reported by the New York Daily News, Hiddleston, who has played Loki in both Thor films and the first Avengers, was so impressed by what he saw in the Doctor Strange trailer that was released earlier this week that he’s hopeful his character will get the chance to do battle with the Sorcerer Supreme in a future movie.
“In some hypothetical world, I don’t quite know when, for Loki and Doctor Strange to share the same frame would be very exciting indeed. Because Benedict Cumberbatch is an old friend. So I would think it would be interesting to see who would get the upper hand.”
Stephen Strange vs. Loki would actually be a sight to behold, as both characters are powerful sorcerers with an air for the dramatic. Although there aren’t very many instances in the comics where the two have faced each other, the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t beholden to what happens in the comics, so a match-up could very well occur if the studio feels it’s the right opportunity (and if Hiddleston renews his contract, which is rumored to expire after Avengers: Infinity War).
While it would be a real treat to see the two characters face off at some point, we’re a little more curious to see if Tumblr would be able to withstand the combined force of Hiddleston and Cumberbatch in the same film together.
