This Major ‘Star Wars’ Character Will NOT Be In ‘Rogue One’

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set prior to when the original Star Wars takes place, so it makes sense that Disney would want to add characters audiences are already familiar with. Darth Vader is confirmed to be making a return, but fans hoping that a certain other beloved character would be showing up as well are sure to be disappointed by some recent comments from the film’s director.

Gareth Edwards spoke with Extra this week about Rogue One, where he confirmed that Alden Ehrenreich, who was recently cast as a younger Han Solo, will not be in the film. “I’m not sure if I’m allowed to do this, but I think I should. I can put to bed, Han Solo is not in the movie.”

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy was also asked by Extra about Ehrenreich’s potential involvement and said, “No I can also confirm that [Han Solo will not appear].”

Rogue One went back into production this month for reshoots, prompting many to speculate that the reason was to add Ehrenreich to the cast. However, while Han Solo won’t be flying his Millennium Falcon in Rogue One, it was confirmed at Comic-Con last week that Ehrenreich has signed on to appear in at least three Star Wars films as Han, so fans can expect to see lots of him in the coming years.
