The story picks up shortly after Jesus Quintana (Turturo) is released from prison and primarily follows the notable bowler, Petey (Cannavale), and Marie (Tautou) as they embark on a freewheeling joyride of petty crime and romance. Turturro’s Jesus Rolls is set to release in theatres on February 28, 2020.

Even though the Coen Brothers are not involved in the sequel, Turturro revealed during an interview with The Independent that he and the Coens are very close friends and that they gave him their blessing before getting started on The Big Lebowski sequel.

“They’re my friends, close friends, and were supportive when I said I wanna explore this character more. They said you gotta do it cause we’re not doing it! If I have something to show, I show it to them if they’re around.”
