A new Batmobile has been unveiled, and we’re having a hard time containing our excitement.

Matt Reeves just revealed the first look at Robert Pattinson’s Batmobile in the upcoming Batman movie, giving us not only a closer look at Pattinson in full costume, but also his new muscly and retro-looking take on the iconic Batmobile. The director posted the images on Instagram this afternoon.

From its first appearance in Detective Comics #27  (May 1939) to now, the Batmobile has evolved a great deal over the years. Reeves’ take on Batman’s iconic ride isn’t our favorite, but the more we look at it, the more we like it. The new-look almost feels like a cross between Dean Winchester’s Impala from Supernatural and of the supped-up whips from the Fast and Furious franchise.

Although some fans still seem to think Pattinson will make a terrible Batman, and you’re more than entitled to that opinion, we couldn’t disagree more. Since playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight film series, Pattinson has starred in a handful of art-house films and has worked with some of the best directors (and actors) in Hollywood.

Reeves’ Batman film also stars Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell Oswald Cobblepot as Oz Cobblepot/Penguin, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone. Earlier this year, we also learned Peter Sarsgaard would play Gotham City District Attorney Gil Colson, and newcomer Jayme Lawson has been cast as Gotham mayoral candidate, Bella Reál.

The Batman will arrive in theatres on June 25, 2021.

What are your thoughts on new-look Batmobile? Is Reeves’ film shaping up to be the best Batman movie yet, or will that honor forever belong to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight? Let us know in the comments below.
