Spider-Man: Far From Home – Every Hidden Detail Found In The Trailer

7 minute read

By Riley Jones (@moviemanjones)

Now that Avengers: Endgame is out and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving on to phase four, Sony Pictures has released a second Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer and it contains some serious Endgame spoilers. Last week the Russo brothers announced the spoiler ban was coming to end, opening the door for fans to discuss the film freely. At first, we thought it was too soon, but it’s clear now having watched the second Far From Home trailer that the MCU is moving on and new Avengers like Spider-Man will take center stage.

So without further ado, here is every hidden detail we could find while watching the second Far From Home trailer. Enjoy!

WARNING: ENDGAME SPOILERS AHEAD

A Quick PSA From Tom Holland

Even though the Avengers: Endgame spoiler ban has been lifted, prior to watching the new Far From Home trailer, Tom Holland (in true Spider-Man fashion) took few seconds to address fans directly, warning them that the new trailer features some serious spoilers.

“The Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer is about to play but if you haven’t seen Avengers: Endgame yet, stop watching because there are some serious spoilers about to come up. But if you have seen Avengers: Endgame, enjoy the trailer.”

Considering the opening scene begins with Peter Parker mourning the death of Tony Stark, we thought this PSA was a classy move by both Holland and Marvel Studios.

Mourning The Fallen

Unlike the first Far From Home trailer, which featured a much happier Peter Parker, the second opens on a much sadder note, with Spider-Man grieving the loss of his mentor and friend, Tony Stark. But he’s not alone – the whole world is mourning the loss of Iron Man. Everywhere Parker goes he’s reminded of Stark and sacrifice he made.

Parker was first introduced to Stark in Captain America: Civil War and ever since, the MCU has done a wonderful job portraying a father-son relationship between the two.

Costume Changes

Spider-Man was wearing the Iron Spider suit when he returned in Endgame, so it only makes sense that he still has it. Iron Man gifted him the suit in Avengers: Infinity War, but with Stark now out of the picture, who knows how long Parker will choose to wear it. From what we can tell, Spider-Man wears three different costumes during the latest Far From Home trailer; Iron Spider, Stealth, and Standard.

We’d like to point out that while Spider-Man is wearing the Iron Spider suit at the beginning of the trailer, he isn’t seen wearing it again, which leads us to believe that throughout the film Parker will discover the world doesn’t need another Iron Man, it needs a Spider-Man. There’s also the possibility that Parker couldn’t bring the Iron Spider suit on his European vacation, so he opted for his standard costume, but we prefer the first option.

Spider-Man Ghosts Nick Fury

Peter Parker ghosting Nick Fury while speaking with Happy Hogan is without a doubt the funniest scene in the trailer. We all know how serious of a guy Fury is, so when you consider that he was just brought back and the original six Avengers are no more, being ghosted by Spider-Man, the youngest and m0st inexperienced Avenger, is not only hilarious but explains why he showed up unannounced, shot Ned in the neck and said, “you’re a very difficult person to contact, Spider-Man.” When it comes to saving the world, Fury doesn’t mess around.

Spidey Meets Mysterio For The First Time

For as long as we can remember, Mysterio has been one of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies but in Far From Home, the MCU takes things in a different direction, depicting Peter Parker and Quentin Beck as partners and potentially, friends.

Over the years several supervillains have used the Mysterio alias, but Beck is without question the most popular. Before becoming Mysterio, Beck was an outstanding special-effect designer who wanted to become an actor but wasn’t quite talented enough. In search of fame and fortune, Beck decided to use his special effects expertise to become a super-villain and the rest, as they say, is history.

Quentin Beck Claims To Be From Another Earth

One of the most shocking parts of the trailer was Nick Fury revealing that Quentin Beck is from a different Earth. Fury goes on to explain that Thanos’ snap left a hole in their dimension and as a result, created a multiverse, allowing Mysterio and the Elementals to crossover. Mysterio claims to be a hero where he’s from and that he followed the Elementals here to defeat them.

Although it may seem like Beck is telling the truth, it’s worth pointing out that in Brian Bendis’ Spider-Man miniseries, Mysterio learns how to jump through dimensions, which he uses to commit crimes in multiple realities. We have no idea which version of Quentin Beck Marvel has chosen at this point, but there is a very real chance Mysterio is from another reality and if that’s the case, he might be the hero he’s claiming to be.

Where Are The Other Avengers?

Having seen Endgame we know Black Widow and Iron Man didn’t survive and Captain America is an elderly man. The Far From Home trailer revealed that Captain Marvel is unavailable (which means she’s off saving the galaxy) and Thor, as Nick Fury put it is “off-world”. We still have no idea where the remaining members are but given Hulk’s new look and Hawkeye being reunited with his family, chances are neither will return anytime soon.

Up until now, the MCU has portrayed Peter Parker as a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man but after the events of Endgame, the world is in need of a new hero and the Avengers are in desperate need of new blood and leadership, a role Nick Fury believes Spider-Man will eventually fulfill.

Has The Fourth Elemental Finally Been Revealed?

It would appear that the fourth elemental, one capable of controlling the wind, has finally been revealed. The first Far From Home trailer introduced to three of the four Elementals; Molten Man, Hyrdo-Man, and Sandman.

Although their names are not used in the trailer, the four Elementals are known as Hyrdon (water), Magnum (earth), Zephyr (wind), and their leader, Hellfire (fire). In the comics, Captain Marvel takes on the Elementals and defeats them one-by-one, so it wouldn’t surprise us in the least if these are the actual Elementals, rather than Mysterio’s special effects, like some have thought.

Is Mysterio Spider-Man’s New Mentor?

With Iron Man now gone and Spider-Man in need of guidance, the latest Far From Home trailer appears to tease Mysterio as Spidey’s new mentor. While that might sound strange, based on what we’ve seen thus far, Beck does makes a lot of sense. In the trailer, Mysterio tells Peter “saving the world requires sacrifice” and that “sometimes people die,” which leads us to believe that Beck will attempt to help Spider-Man deal with his grief and understand that being a hero comes with risks. That said, knowing Mysterio history and thrust for notoriety, we’re having a hard time believing Beck is actually good. There is a very real possibility he’s playing everyone for a fool, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

MJ Is One Smart Cookie

One of the most shocking moments of the trailer occurred when MJ told Peter Parker that she knows he’s Spider-Man. Even though it was short and we have no idea how the conversation ends (yet), seeing as both May and Ned already know, given how intelligent MJ is, her figuring it out isn’t all that surprising. Let’s be honest, she must have been a little curious after Spider-Man showed up in Washington, D.C. during the class field-trip and saved a bunch of students in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

In the comics, Mary-Jane Watson was kept in the dark years but eventually figured out Parker’s secret identity as well. Although the MCU’s take on MJ is slightly different than the comics, the bond they share is very much the same. Spider-Man: Homecoming teased MJ and Parker’s romance and Far From Home brings the even closer.

Will The Next Iron Man Please Stand Up

With Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, and for now, Thor, out of the picture, the Avengers are in need of some fresh blood and based on the most recent Far From Home trailer, it would seem Nick Fury has his eye (couldn’t resist) on Spider-Man.

Based on what we can tell, Far From Home will focus heavily on Spider-Man struggling not only with the loss of Iron Man but his own identity as a hero. Nearing the end of the trailer, Parker says “the world needs the next Iron Man,” before cutting to a scene with Nick Fury asking Parker “you going to step up or not?”
