Hey, remember Clue? Well Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, will reportedly be producing, and possibly starring in, a new movie for Fox based on the popular board game.
According to Deadline, Reynolds and his production company Maximum Effort have signed a three-year first look deal with Fox and the first project under this deal is reportedly a new live-action film based on Clue. Reynolds will also potentially star.
Deadline also reports that Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are in talks to pen the screenplay. Hasbro’s film division, Allspark Pictures, would produce alongside Maximum Effort. No release date has been set.
The first Clue adaptation, a mystery-comedy released in 1985, starred Tim Curry, Eileen Brennan, and Christopher Lloyd. There’s no word on whether any of the film’s cast will be involved in the reboot.
The big question now is whether Disney’s announced plans to purchase 21st Century Fox for $52 billion will have any impact on the deal.
At any rate, you can see Ryan Reynolds reprise his role as Deadpool in Deadpool 2 on June 1. Who knows, maybe it will contain a Clue joke!
