Out of all the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies released so far, Guardians of the Galaxy has the least connection to any other movies in the franchise, as the cosmic journey of Star-Lord, Gamora, and the rest of the Guardians takes place far beyond the reaches of Earth. That being said, with the way the whole MCU is converging for Avengers: Infinity War in the next few years, it’s only a matter of time before a crossover brings the Guardians into contact with other heroes. According to a new rumor, that’s exactly what’s happening in Thor: Ragnarok … to a point, anyway.

That Hashtag Show is reporting that Thor and The Hulk will come into contact with the alien race known as the Cotati over the course of the film. For those who haven’t been keeping up on everything related to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 up to this point, the Cotati are the same race of aliens that the newest Guardian Mantis belongs to, so you can bet that if they show up, she will too.  We’re also likely to learn a little more about the Kree, the race that Ronan the Accuser from the first Guardians film belonged to, as they share a planet with the Cotati.

Sure, it’s a bit disappointing that none of the heroes we fell in love with in James Gunn’s first film appear to feature into Ragnarok’s plot, but if this rumor turns out to be true, it would be a great way to get us acquainted with Mantis before Vol. 2 hits.
