Ever since Thanos the Mad Titan was revealed at the end of Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, fans have been anticipating getting to see the Marvel villain in action. Earth’s mightiest heroes are finally set to come face-to-face with Thanos in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, but not many details have been revealed yet about the film’s actual premise.

Based on the title and past events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s clear that the film will involve Thanos acquiring the six Infinity Stones and wielding the Infinity Gauntlet against The Avengers, but that’s about all we really know. However, thanks to a new report from LRM, one of the most reliable sources for accurate superhero movie rumors in the business, it looks like we finally have a solid plot synopsis for Avengers: Infinity War.

Apparently, Infinity War will begin with the same premise as the “Infinity Gauntlet” comic book crossover and not the “Infinity War” storyline (in layman’s terms, “Infinity Gauntlet” deals with Thanos obtaining and wielding the Infinity Gauntlet, while “Infinity War” focuses on Adam Warlock fighting Magus.

In the Infinity War film, Thanos (Josh Brolin) will attempt to impress the personification of his mistress Death by bringing her enough souls; in other words, he’s going to try and extinguish half the life in the universe. He will do this by, you guessed it, gathering all six Infinity Stones and attaining god-like powers through his use of the newly powered up Infinity Gauntlet. This means that Death is indeed a character in the movie, but it remains to be seen whether Cate Blanchett’s Thor: Ragnarok villain Hela will stand in for the comic book character as some have previously theorized.

As previously confirmed, we know that pretty much every living Avenger is going to be involved in the fight against Thanos, as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy. Oh and Nick Fury will be returning as well after being absent for Captain America: Civil War.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4th, 2018 and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on further plot details as they are revealed.
