Jake Gyllenhaal could be first in line to replace Ben Affleck as Batman in an upcoming DC film.
According to movie pundit John Campea (via Screen Rant), Gyllenhaal is The Batman director Matt Reeves’ first choice to replace Affleck as the Dark Knight. This rumor comes just days after Affleck told USA Today that he was contemplating how to make a “graceful and cool” exit from the DC Extended Universe.
Campea had originally broken the news that Reeves had an idea of who he’d like to see replace Affleck as Batman, only now specifying that Gyllenhaal is who the director has in mind.
Interestingly, if Gyllenhaal were to replace Affleck, this would mark the second time a Gyllenhaal sibling has stepped in to take over a role in a Batman movie, with Jake’s sister Maggie replacing Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes in 2008’s The Dark Knight.
Of course, this all depends on Affleck actually exiting the franchise first. The actor returns to the screen as the Caped Crusader this weekend in Justice League and says he is “contemplating” returning for Reeves’ The Batman.
What say you? Would Jake Gyllenhaal be a good choice to play Batman or would you rather see a different actor don the cowl? Let us know in the comments below!
