Despite being killed off at the end of Batman v Superman, it’s clear that he’s being brought back for Justice League. After all, Henry Cavill has been featured in promotional material for the film and was also on hand for the CinemaCon Skype call with the rest of the cast earlier this year. And now we not only know how he’ll brought back, but what he’ll look like when he’s finally resurrected.
Henry Cavill posted a big tease on his Instagram yesterday, showing what looks like a close-up of a black Superman costume (he even gives it the hashtag #Superman):
Warner Bros. has been trying to put Superman into a black costume in their live action movies for about two decades now (remember that Nicolas Cage suit?), so giving him a black resurrection suit may just be the opportunity they’ve been waiting for.
As for how Superman will be brought back? Well, you may want to turn away if you don’t want it spoiled.
According to Devin Faraci at Birth.Movies.Death, who has a pretty good track record of being right with this kind of stuff, Supes’ body will be placed into that weird “goop chamber” in the Kryptonian ship that turned Zod into Doomsday in Batman v Superman. Clearly, the process has been improved a bit in the interim given that it’s unlikely that Superman will come out as a cave troll reject from The Lord of the Rings.
