RUMOR: Ben Affleck’s ‘Batman’ Movie Could Be Set In Arkham Asylum

Not much is known about the next solo Batman movie other than that Ben Affleck will write, direct, and star in it, but a new rumor may shed light on the film’s basic premise.

According to Batman On Film, the as-yet-untitled Batman film will be set in Arkham Asylum and revolve around Batman being imprisoned in the infamous penitentiary. No other details are known, but this would make sense considering the other popular rumor is that Batman will face off against a lot of villains in the film, so being sent to the one place where they’re all locked up together would fit right in with that premise.

The report also indicates that the Batfleck movie won’t be a straight-up adaptation of the Arkham Asylum video game or the comic that game drew inspiration from, Grant Morrison’s Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On A Serious Earth. Affleck has previously stated that the film will have an original story, so it’s likely that the film will only be drawing inspiration from those two sources.

The Batman reboot currently has no expected release date, but Ben Affleck will reprise his role as the Dark Knight next year in Justice League.
