The Ronda Rousey-starring remake of 1989’s Road House has snagged a director to match the ferocity that the MMA star will surely bring to the role: Nick Cassavetes.
That’s right; Variety is reporting that the guy who directed such bare-knuckle brawlers as The Notebook and My Sister’s Keeper will be writing and directing a film about a female bouncer beating up on jerks in a Missouri bar.
Honestly, we’re kind of intrigued to see how this plays out. To his credit, Cassavetes did direct the violent (though not very good) Alpha Dog, so at least he does have some grit on his resume.
Road House is scheduled to start filming sometime in 2016.
