Spider-Man: Homecoming

REPORT: Peter Parker’s Love Interest In ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Revealed

Following reports that actress Zendaya will not be playing Mary-Jane Watson in Spider-Man: Homecoming after all — she insists that her character’s name is Michelle; whether there is more to the story than this remains to be seen — Latino-Review is reporting that sources close to the film have confirmed that Peter Parker’s love interest will indeed not be MJ. Nor will it be Gwen Stacy.

Apparently, Peter’s first love in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be none other than Liz Allen, a lesser known character whom Peter had a crush on in Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s early Spider-Man comics. She will be played by actress Laura Harrier.

In the comics, Peter never really got much of a chance with Liz, as she originally dated Flash Thompson and by the time she started to notice Peter, he was dating Betty Brant. Whether Spider-Man: Homecoming takes a similar approach is anyone’s guess, but it will be interesting to see Spidey paired up with someone other than MJ or Gwen for a change.
