Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie may not have an official title yet, but the main villain has already been cast.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Joe Manganiello, best known for playing the werewolf Alcide Herveaux on HBO’s True Blood, has been cast as the deadly mercenary Deathstroke. This news comes on the heels of Affleck recently sharing a video online of Manganiello in costume as the character, but it wasn’t revealed at the time who was underneath the mask.
DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns has confirmed the casting news in a new interview where he discusses his new role overseeing the DC Movie Universe.
Johns declined to comment on whether or not Deathstroke will make an appearance in next year’s Justice League. He and Affleck are working on the script for the new Batman movie, which is expected to hit theaters as early as 2018.
