It looks like the Merc with a Mouth is contractually obligated to appear in more than just a sequel to the original Deadpool movie.
In an interview with Deadline, X-Men series producer and writer Simon Kinberg casually revealed that both Deadpool and Cable will play a role in the X-Force movie, although he didn’t discuss how big of a role either character will have.
“We are working hard on New Mutants, Gambit with Channing Tatum, Deadpool 2 and the new X-Force movie where Deadpool is alongside Cable and other main characters,” Kinberg said.
With Ryan Reynolds co-writing the X-Force script alongside Joe Carnahan (The Grey, Uncharted), it make sense that the actor would find a way to insert his beloved character into the film, especially since he’s made it clear that the X-Force is a top priority for him and that he wants it to R-rated just like Deadpool and Logan.
Reynolds is also currently working on a proper Deadpool sequel and recently appeared in a special teaser for the sequel attached to screenings of Logan, so it’s safe to say the character isn’t going away anytime soon.
