Wow, Marvel really isn’t pulling any punches in this superhero arms race.
ComicBook.com is reporting that the second season of Daredevil will drop on Netflix March 25, 2016…the same day DC Comics’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters. DC and Warner Bros. have everything to lose in this battle, as they’ve bet the farm on this film being successful so they can usher in their own answer to Marvel’s highly successful cinematic universe.
It’s telling that Marvel is so confident in their brand at this point that they’re willing to bet that many viewers will choose to stay home and watch a superhero TV show over seeing a multi-million dollar blockbuster featuring two of the biggest superheros of all time. Of course, this isn’t the first instance of “release day wars” between the two comic giants, as DC notably changed the original May 6, 2016 release date of Batman v Superman after Marvel announced that Captain America: Civil War would be out the same day.
Marvel has yet to confirm Daredevil‘s release date, but if this story turns out to be true, it should be the beginning of a very interesting year in superhero entertainment.
