Ah yes, the infamous golden slave bikini. Worn by Carrie Fisher in Return of the Jedi, it’s one of the most famous costumes in movie history. It has been parodied, mimicked, and used as a go-to halloween costume for sexy nerds for years.

The original costume was recently put up for auction by Profiles in History, and included a certificate of authenticity from Industrial Light and Magic designer Richard Miller. The bidding started at $80,000 and the outfit eventually sold for a whopping $96,000. The name of the winning bidder was not revealed.

The costume was worn in the scenes were Princess Leia was imprisoned by Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine. The revealing ensemble quickly etched its place into pop culture lore, and into the fantasies of male Star Wars fans everywhere.

As ridiculous as it sounds to pay $96,000 for an old movie costume, it wasn’t even the highlight of the auction. A miniature model of the blockade runner, which Leia was seen flying in the movie, went for $450,000. While George Lucas may have butchered and ruined a lot of the original trilogy in re-releases, it’s safe to say that some fans will pay any price to get their hands on rare Star Wars memorabilia.
