Bong Joon-ho’s comments about superhero movies and why he has no desire to helm a Marvel movie went viral the other day, and although we tend to agree with the Oscar-nominated director, the thought of Joon-ho making a superhero movie has our wheels turning.

During a recent interview with Variety, the Parasite director revealed that even though he did enjoy films like Logan and Guardians of the Galaxy, in his heart of hearts he knows making a Marvel movie wouldn’t be a good fit for either side.

“I don’t think Marvel would ever want a director like me. I don’t expect any offers from them anytime soon. Of their movies, I did enjoy the films by James Gunn and James Mangold’s ‘Logan,’ and I think they are great directors who can handle great projects like that. The film industry seems complicated, but I think it’s quite simple for directors. It’s just best to do what you’re good at. And so I don’t really think Marvel and I are suitable for each other. That’s something I just intuitively feel.”

Joon-ho is also known for writing and directing The Host (2006), Snowpiercer (2013), and Okja (2017), all of which we’d highly reccommed, especially to those who enjoyed Parasite, which was nominated six times at the upcoming 92nd Academy Awards, including a nomination for Best Director.

Would you like to see Joon-ho direct a superhero movie? If so, what hero or villain would you like to see the Oscar-nominated director make? Let us know in the comments below.
