Is there actually going to be a Metal Gear Solid movie? No one is really sure since the movie has been rumored/releasing concept art/in development hell for over a year now. But if they do finally end up making the movie based on the popular Konami video game franchise, there’s a solid front runner to play the lead role.

Oscar Isaac, while doing press for his recently released film Triple Frontier, the actor was asked by IGN (along with co-stars Ben Affleck and Garrett Hedlund) which video game movie he might be interested in making in the future. While Affleck and Hedlund gave fairly generic answers, Isaac quickly jumped into offering services as the titular Solid Snake.

(Video should start around the start of the conversation, but skip to 42:25 if it doesn’t.)

“Metal Gear Solid,” says Isaac, matter of factly. “That’s the one… I’m throwing my hat in for that one.”

“Who would you play,” asks the interviewer.

“Snake, man,” replies Isaac, as if the mere question was so obvious it shouldn’t have even been asked.

Metal Gear Solid movie has been in talks for years, with director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer, Kong: Skull Island) attached to be at the helm. News of Isaac’s revelation reached the director, who responded with this post on social media:

Frankly, we think Isaac would be a great choice for Snake. How do you feel about the maybe/sort of/kinda pending  Metal Gear Solid movie?
