It’s easy to forget sometimes that we live in a world in which Nicolas Cage was cast as Superman in an honest-to-goodness big-budget superhero movie back in the late 90s. Of course, that movie – which would have seen Cage play the Man of Steel with Tim Burton directing – was cancelled before it could truly get off the ground, but it looks like Cage will finally get the chance to play the iconic DC superhero in an actual movie thanks to the power of animation.

In case you hadn’t heard, the popular animated series Teen Titans GO! is getting its very own movie: Teen Titans GO! to the Movies. While the focus of the movie will still be on the main Teen Titans cast – which includes Robin, Cyborg, Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy – big name heroes such as Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and of course, Superman, will be involved as well.

Twenty years after Nicolas Cage almost got to don the red and blue superduds on the silver screen, he’ll finally get to fulfill his dream of playing Superman, as Cage has been cast as the voice of the Man of Steel in Teen Titans Go! to the Movies. Additional voices include singer Halsey as Wonder Woman and rapper Lil Yachty as Green Lantern.

The best part of all of this is that Teen Titans GO! is a pretty silly show and, assuming the movie follows the same tone, it should give Cage the chance to really cut loose and be goofy in the role. We can’t wait to hear him in the part!

Mark your calendars: Teen Titans Go! to the Movies will be released on July 27.
