Nicolas Cage Blessed A Marriage Proposal At A Marathon Showing His Own Movies

It’s probably been awhile since you saw a new movie with Nicolas Cage in it, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been busy making movies. In fact, Cage starred in five of them in 2016 alone: The Trust, Snowden, USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, Dog Eat Dog, and Army of One, but you didn’t see any of them (and have probably only heard of Snowden, which is the only film in that list to make over $1 million at the box office).

But just because Nicolas Cage doesn’t have many starring roles in mega popular movies right now doesn’t mean he isn’t out there celebrating the art of Cage cinema with his die hard fans.

This past Sunday, the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas hosted a marathon dedicated to the National Treasure himself called C4GED 4-EVER (in case you’re wondering, it is the fourth annual such event, following CAGED, CAGED 2: UNCAGED, AND CAG3D in previous years). While a marathon of just Nicolas Cage movies is definitely something we can get behind, C4GED 4-EVER was one for the history books, as Cage not only personally selected which of his films would be shown (Bangkok Dangerous, Joe, Bringing Out the Dead, Army of One, and Lord of War), but also made an appearance at the theater to read Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Tell-Tale Heart’ in front of a birthday cake, and even offer his blessing over a marriage proposal.

It looks like it was a great time:

We can’t wait to see what next year’s CAGED 5: Ghost Rider’s Revenge has in store. If a live-read of The Wicker Man is on the docket, we may just have to attend.
