Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation was one of this summer’s best blockbuster hits, but Tom Cruise already has his sights set on his next mission. And it looks like he’s found the director to see him through it.
In a surprise announcement, Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie posted a confirmation on Twitter that he has accepted the job, which makes this a director has returned to make a second Mission Impossible.
Mission: Accepted #MI6

Each of the first five Mission Impossible films had a different filmmaker at the helm, so it will be interesting to see how McQuarrie handles repeat duties. He seems to have a great working relationship with Cruise though, so bringing McQuarrie back should hopefully result in more espionage magic.
Mission Impossible 6 is tentatively set for a 2017 release.
