Martin Scorsese’s controversial comments regarding Marvel movies have been a major topic of discussion since early October, with everyone from Samuel L. Jackson to Kevin Smith weighing in. Although many felt the Academy Award-winning director’s criticisms of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and their place in Hollywood were unfair, fellow director Roland Emmerich, best known for Independence Day, Godzilla, and The Day After Tomorrow, has sided with the legendary filmmaker.

During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Emmerich sat down to discuss the upcoming release of his new movie Midway and share his opinion of Scorsese’s comments, claiming the Marvel movies are “taking over our business.”

Well, I think he sees it from a very [purist] standpoint. If you like Martin Scorsese… I think they shouldn’t give him so much flak. But what he’d probably meant is that there may be too many of them. It’s like taking over our business, and it’s really hard for other movies to be even heard. So, in that respect, I’m not a fan of comic book hero movies. But I accept them for what they are.

Do you agree with Emmerich’s comments or do you wish everyone would just let it go? Let us know in the comments below.
